Ashoka Pillar is the emblem of the Republic of India. The famous Mauryan Emperor Ashoka, the grandson of Chandragupta Maurya, built it as a symbol of peace. The original Ashoka Pillar is in Sarnath, near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, India. There are four lions in all four directions, beneath them, two Bulls and two Horses circle the lions and in between them is the famous “Ashok Chakra”. The entire monument is built upon a lotus flower supported by the pillar.
